Nepsis
The Greek word "nepsis" (νῆψις) means "alertness" or "watchfulness."
A lone figure emerges from the shadows, standing anchored like a sentinel gazing outward toward an unseen horizon. Vivid, evocative textures envelop him, creating a dynamic, almost turbulent surface that suggests waves, wind, or spiritual forces swirling around the central figure.

The textured effect was achieved by building up layers allowing the paint to take on a sculptural quality. Calm, serene blue tones convey tranquility, while the dark hues hint at mysteries and perils lurking beneath the surface. The solitary figure remains vigilant and attentive, ever-watchful.

The painting evokes the concept of nepsis - being prudent and circumspect in one's conduct and judgments, rather than rash or thoughtless. Nepsis implies spiritual discernment. The observer is left to reflect on their own inner wakefulness as they contemplate the figure's resilient, anchored stance, a portrait of steadfast spiritual resolve.
